Portraits and Figures

SMOKIN (2012) 24 x 36 in. Oil on canvas.

ZACK IN BLACK (2011)  20 x 30 in. Oil on canvas.
In the winter my son Zack would always wear this old black wool
jacket, dark grey hooded sweatshirt  and black hat.  One day
when he was out smoking I took a series of photos and thought
all those shades of black would make an interesting painting.

COWGIRL (2015) 18 x 24 in. Oil on canvas.

TURKISH SMOKER (2009) 16 x 20 in. Oil on canvas.
I’ve had this photo for a while, and thought this would be fun to
paint.  I think I got this out of National Geographic and to be
honest, I don’t even know if he is Turkish.  He kind of reminds
me of the Zig Zag man.

LEGOLAS (2003) 16 x 20 in. Acrylic on canvas.
My niece Stephanie asked me if I would paint a picture of Orlando
Bloom as Legolas from The Lord of the Rings, for her high school
graduation present.  This was the result.

ORLANDO BLOOM (2008) 16 x 20 in. Oil on canvas.
After seeing the picture I painted of Legolas for her cousin, my
niece Ashley asked me if I would paint  her a picture of Orlando
Bloom, but as Will Turner from Pirates of the Caribbean.
Needless to say I don’t want to paint anymore pictures of
Orlando Bloom.

THE DARK KNIGHT (2008) 18 x 36 in. Oil on canvas.
This painting was created at the request of my nephew Chris, for
his high school graduation present.  The model I used for this
painting was an action figure toy.

THE DARK KNIGHT (2015) 12 x 24 in. Oil on canvas.

BATMAN (2008) 14 x 18 in. Oil on canvas.
After finishing the painting, the Dark Knight, I thought I could get
a little more mileage from this action figure, so I did this quick
painting.  It turned out pretty good so I also gave this one to my
nephew Chris.

JOHN LENNON (1992) 18 x 24 in. Gouache on masonite board.
I gave this painting to my beautiful daughter Connie whose a
huge Beatles fan.  Early in my career two of my favorite illustrators
were Bart Forbes and Bernie Fuchs.  They influenced this painting
and others.

BOGART (1982) 16 x 20 in. Gouache on masonite board.
Humphrey Bogart was always one of my favorite actors.  This
painting like John Lennon, is created in the Bart Forbes style.
My daughter Connie also owns this painting.

HUNTER THOMPSON (1983) 10 x14 in. Gouache on masonite

JAMES TAYLOR (1981) 6 x 9 in. Gouche on masonite board.
